Alot of cars like this use a "collector" muffler or basically an open exhaust. the fire is the excess fuel in the exhaust igniting. all race cars do this to an extent. this one just has a really short exhaust so its more prominent.

they cut off the whole exhaust system and the fire ur seeing there is usually called back fire when theres a pipe actually the back fire is caused by the fuel catching on fire its a normal thing when tuning cars. just a little info for you guys :D

As with most dyno tests, one is looking for maximum HP, maybe just long enough for a 1/4mile drag. The heat in the headers was not sustainable. With turbos, the turbine is spun by gasses expanding just as they hit the blades. To get the most boost you really want all the heat (energy) to be there at the turbo inlet, thus the red hot header. I thought the flames was simply the paint burning off. Rotaries make HP is because they spin at higher RPM's before comming apart. Torque X RPM's equal HP.

If you pay attention before you actually see flames...you will notice that that is actually the exhaust manifold/header tubes starting to GLOW cherry red because they are getting sooo hot under boost. When you actually see flames..there might have been some kind of rupture in the exhaust gaskets or something maybe...and then at the very end when a few lil flames shoot out...its just the ignition of excess gas fumes being shot out the exhaust.

is that why my 1998 ford ranger XLT 2.3l 4cyl is so fucking slow? because it has 4cyl and is built for towing? i can burn rubber easily (probably cuz its a pickup no weight in the boot) and right when i shift or pull off it jerks a lot but quickly power is lost. and the pull is very weak almost IMMEDIATELY after i go. 1st and 2nd are strongest 3rd is ok for medium street speeds but its so fucking slow, it drives me insane

You CANNOT spin a V-twin as fast as four relatively tiny cylinders--hence superior low-end torque--but at high HP cost. Ducati has traditionally been a V-twin--kinda like Porsche is a boxter engine. Tradition. That-and many people prefer the power delivery of the V-twin.

Thanks buddy, keep in mind we shut it down at 145mph, I had 1100 rpms to go in fourth and all of fifth gear, but the 40's were not very happy at that speed, I am guessing that 175 is within range, again on the dyno, with a toyo speed rated street tire

I'd have to agree Aston martin if your looking for a 2 seat sports car though the little MGB was a neat car as well in it's day. The Corvette is all show and needs a v8 with forced induction to even keep up. Euro cars are the mark not the corvette though ,although Some Americans heap praise on the Corvette its a rattle trap when compared to real machinery.I suspect it has more to do with pride than with anything else. Wow.....lucky uncle!! A 1000 Vinnies...that's quite a lot, really! They were all lovingly hand built. The thing is, as a kid they were fairly cheap to buy over here...and looked down on by the 'rockers' who preferred Triumphs and Nortons. The first bike I went on the back of was a Black Shadow...and he opened it up for me. I've been in awe of them ever since. My 750 Commando came close for acceleration, I remember. But nothing matches the sound of a Vinnie on full 'thrutch'!!

Sounds fantastic. The only highly tuned Vin I've heard being used in anger was 'Mighty Mouse' which belongs to a friend of the family. That sounded incredible. I heard Super Nero started up at a bike show about 15 years ago but they couldn't give it anywhere near full throttle. Sadly its now in a museum.

on 92 or 93 octane is available at all gas stations. Higher octane price goes trough the roof, and is harder to obtain, but is necessary when increasing HP through a supercharger or Turbo charger when you REALLY increase the BOOST pressure. I am only running 10 lbs boost. Keeping it safe so I don't have to replace any blown up engine parts.

Many different suppliers for all of the parts. Unique Performance (who is no longer in business) sold this same car (I built this one) for $215,000. The sold out within several months, however only 17 were actually built with the Shelby parts, that are now unavailable. I bought all the Shelby parts before UP went under.
