Fortunately today in the Formula 1 Turbos are forbidden. Turbos were allowed till 1986. In 1986 they banned Turbos because of several deadly accidents. They reached 900-1350hp with their little 3 litre engines... Now imagine todays Formula 1 engines (2.4 litre, 900hp @ over 19.000 rpm) with Turbos. Overkill...

The video says one full cycle of the machine is four turns on the handle and not one. Then again, this thing is not a fully programmable computer. It's hardcoded to produce polynomial tables to a set number of decimalsm and it's of course not comparable to any clockspeed microprocessor of today. It also obviously does not fulfil any of Crysis' other requirements; there's no sound output for one, unless you count the mechanical grind of cogs and gears... ;)

Well, if you crank the handle at 1 revolution per second, this device is would be operating at 1 Hz. -which is about 18billion times slower than the minimum system requirements for Crysis (1.8GHz). Perhaps if you had Superman at the crank, but then the cogs and gears would obliterated by the frictional and centrifical forces generated. In short, Crysis would crash this machine like no other computer has ever been crashed!

He was able to visualize a very very very complicated machine that could solve mathematical equations seen as formidable during his time considering the fact that there were no electronic calculators back then. You start off saying how much easier you make it for everyone, some guy starts coding python in a way I've never seen it done before. I've taken python tutes and did well - but I'm a 10 year PHP, JavaScript and ActionScript developer so I'm going to need a lot better overview of what you're doing. Yes, no doubt they would have had access to CAD files, but that presents its own set of headaches. First off it's usually a massive amount of information when you're dealing with car stuff running into gigabites and it all needs to be made sense of. And second, you usually have to do a ton of work on the files to get them into the kind of shape you need for them to work cleanly in your 3d package.

No I have a native 64bit browser running a 32bit flash player on a 64bit OS. You didn't indicate a need for a 64bit binary of flash. However, being the browser is 64bit and Linux supports 32bit binaries in kernel (unlike Windows that emulates 32bit) the end product is that I use a 64bit browser (and 64bit most other software) for everything I do. In my experience (with side by side identical boxes) there is no performance loss using 32bit binaries in 64bit Linux. Windows? I couldn't care less

Anyway as far as 64 bit goes for video codecs and stuff there is about a 10% gain and Photoshop according to Adobe is about 14% faster in a 64 bit build. When you run 32 bit apps on windows, it emulates them using the Windows-on-Windows and its slower to run 32 bit apps on a 64 bit OS, compared to 32 bit apps on a 32 bit OS. Look it up, until then everyone can seriously fuck off.

Well, if you run a 32-bit application on top of a 64-bit processor you can't utilise all the added registers included in x86-64 instruction set, so you're theoretically right but practically slightly wrong. Fuck you, if everything was 64 bit it would be faster. I have used 64 bit firefox and it blows 32 bit out of the water. Don't bring the bullshit argument that 64 bit only allows more RAM and in reality is it only like 10 percent faster. Running 32 bit apps on a 64 bit version of windows is slow because the emulation is slow. If I had a 32 bit OS on the same computer yeah it wouldn't make much difference, but guess what I don't.

Basically, they made V8 really fast, but TraceMonkey has been in development for like 2 months now and it's almost as fast. I'm sure that Firefox programmers are going to look at V8 and see what can be done to make TraceMonkey even better. If google wants to work on a browser I don't know why that made there own rather than contribute to Firefox. Chrome still has many problems with rendering and stuff. Plus, Firefox has such a large plugin base.
